This is a free beginner’s tutorial on copywriting by Neville Medhora. Neville is an entrepreneur. He is the founder of Kopywriting Kourse, NevBlog, HouseOfRave. He also advises AppSumo, Pink Java Media, Sumo, The Hustle and many other companies. He was also an SEO guy and had understood in the early days of Internet marketing about the power of targeted traffic to your website.
A Free Copywriting Course starts with practically explaining to a newbie what copywriting is through an example. Neville explains the 70/30 ratio formula for exciting content and sales stuff. He then goes on to describe the AIDA, the most critical formula for writing any sales page. The tone of the copy- pretend like you are talking to a friend which enhances the connection with your audience. He also tells us to write things that people read and how to make things more interesting. The feature to benefit conversion is how features translate to benefit. This makes it more human and you actually come to know what you are going to get.

This is a basic free copywriting course by Belinda Weaver of Copywrite Matters. It has 3 techniques. Each technique is explained in a video tutorial and there is a worksheet to let you flex your new copywriting muscles.
1. Features vs Benefits.
Here she explains in detail what the consumer is actually looking for, i.e., what’s in it for them. She transfers the attention of the writer from focussing on on the feature to focussing on the benefits. She employs the ‘so what?’ approach. A copywriter should go on asking a ‘so what?’ to a feature repeatedly to convert it to a benefit. This is the consumer’s approach. She says, “The more meaningful the benefit, the stronger the sell.”
2. You vs me: How to make the reader the hero of your story
It is a technique to make the reader feel like you are talking to them and ‘only them’. Belinda says that writing messages that are intimate and personal fast track the trust between the business and the potential customer. If you want to engage with the customer then you have to make them the star of the story. ‘You’ should be used more frequently in your writing that ‘we’/’us’.
3. 5 Editing tips: How to say more in fewer words
Good copy doesn’t use a single unnecessary word. The 5 tips
- Cutting out the fillers and leading with ‘you’.
- Losing redundancies. Dismissing the similar words.
- Removing words like ‘that’, ‘really’, ‘very’, ‘currently’. Ditch weak adverbs. Adverbs weaken your copy.
- Simplify the use of words.
- Use active voice to speak directly to your readers.

Two major principles that he focusses on are:
- Never start a campaign without a landing page.
- Only one link in the landing page, i.e. the call-to-action. All other links to be removed.
This doesn’t let the attention of your prospect divert. Many links on the landing page divert the attention of your prospect and he may fall out.

The free copywriting courses mostly help you just get off the ground. They also provide some suggestions to practise the learned concept but usually won’t provide any direct assistance in case you want a review of your copy or need some advanced training.
